Patmos is a charming, picturesque and tranquil island. It has a very salubrious climate and a clear atmosphere. Vegetation is not very rich but this in no way diminishes the unique character of the island with its lacy coastline, its charming bays and its surrounding islets.

The island has 3000 inhabitants, who are spread over Chora and Skala (main port) and Kampos.

Away from the flow of mass - tourism, Patmos is ideal for those looking for alternatives. The simultaneous presence and incredible mix of spirituality, wild untouched nature with beautiful and sandy beaches as well quality intense night life, makes it one of the most unique places of Greece.

Internationally renowned religious sights are present on Patmos island and not making a special mention of them would be inappropriate:

• the Apocalypse cave where tradition holds that St John the Evangelist was exiled and wrote the Revelation
• Saint John's Monastery which dominates the hill above Chora and is visible from every part of the island is of a major importance religious and cultural center of the Orthodoxy. It has been established in 1088.
• The chapel of Agioi Apostoli built in 1603, where the relic of St Chistodoulos is kept.

By plane from Athens to Leros, Kos or Samos (approximately 45 minutes) and then hydrofoil (approximately 3 hours from Kos and 1 hour from Samos)
