Tinos IslandTinos is an island situated in the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean sea. It has a land area of approximately 194 km2 and a population of nearly 9,000 inhabitants.

Whereas still unknown by foreign tourists, Tinos is famous amongst Greeks and the Orthodox world in general for the Church of “Panagia Evangelistria” with its reputedly miraculous icon of Virgin Mary that it holds, which is the main reason why the Church has become the most active center of a yearly pilgrimage that takes place on August 15th, the day of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. In any case, on Tinos, both Greek orthodox and Roman Catholic populations exist and moreover the island is also famous for its artistic and rich cultural life.

Tinos is also well known for its unique architecture as an hymn to folk art, tradition and search of beauty and perfection. The architectural and artistic treasures of Tinos make it look like an enormous museum of folk art, keeping the traditions, the culture and art alive.

At least but not last, Tinos has the most beautiful traditional villages all around its territory with delicious food offered by local restaurants.

Beautiful sandy beaches are all around the island and the amazing beauty of the sunsets and sunrises can be admired by a great number of places.

Tinos is very easily reached from Rafina Port within 2 hours by boat. Rafina Port is a 30 minutes drive from Athens International Airport. Tinos is also very well connected with other Cycladic islands such as Mykonos, Andros etc..
