Sxinias (or Schinias or Sxoinias) Marathon is ranked within the 10 tourist attractions in the Athens area.

Its vicinity with Athens (40 minutes to the Acropolis) and the main international airport of the country (35 minutes) is probably a few of its greatest advantages.

Sxinias beach is fairly qualified as one of the most beautiful bathing spots of Greece and certainly the longest beach of Attica area, not to forget to mention that it is qualified as a European Union Environmental Park.

 A dream place for surfers and water sports lovers, but also for more safe swimmers and kids, Sxinias fine sand beach with its all along natural umbrella/shade of pine forest is probably  the best area to spend your holidays next to Athens.  Many restaurants and tavernas are located along the beach providing good food and refreshments to some specifically allocated areas. Some km away the beautiful Marathon lake may give you the opportunity to enjoy the calmness and greenery of the surroundings.

Last but not least, the region has also a historical importance as the site of the famous Battle of Marathon is just a few km away as well as the birthplace of the Marathon Run.
